Voyko’s Paw-Lickin’ Liver Treats for Dogs or Cats

Delicious, Healthy Homemade Snacks for Dogs or Cats make Every Day Feel Just Like A Holiday!

“Master Chef”, Voyko loves to pamper pets just as much as I do. He indulges the whole family with lots of wholesome food and treats! When you’re shopping ingredients, organic is best of course, but you can use what you find affordable and convenient. This delectable treat is definitely a crowd pleaser for any dog or cat, so make sure you have plenty to share when the neighbors arrive!

Ingredients

3 pounds Organic Chicken or Turkey Liver
Fresh or dried oregano
Fresh or dried rosemary
Minced Fresh Garlic

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Place the liver on a large baking pan and sprinkle the herbs on top.
3. Bake for about 45 minutes.
4. Remove from the oven and let cool, then dice the liver into 1-inch cubes.
5. Put a few ounces into individual zip lock bags, and freeze the portions that won’t be eaten right away.

Your healthy, homemade treats will stay fresh in the refrigerator for two to three days and up to a month in the freezer. Here’s a photo of our kitchen at home with Voyko on the right. Everyone likes to ask if the pets behaved or if they’re photo shopped. The only one who didn’t behave that day was Voyko himself! (Notice the attention he always gets).

  1. This an actual photo that was taken in my kitchen in 2006. Spot on the counter, Bravo – My magnificent Australian Shepherd on the floor waiting so patiently. Ginger’s cat scooter (black cat on the floor). Leah – Ginger’s Black Lab. Annie (4 week old Jack Russell), Mo and Curly (the Yorkie’s). A few other friends and Voyko Marx as himself. Master Chef. It’s always a great day when Voyko’s cooking!

    1. Hi Hanna,
Yes.. that’s my sweet Spot, the cat that created the company. Spot passed on a few years back, but lived about ten years longer than all the vets had predicted. Great food is the foundation of great health. Wishing you the best.

  2. THANK YOU! I just got your book today and am so anxious to get started!!
When the vet said Maxie needed to loose weight, I told her ‘yes, I know, but she cries for food’. Vet said buy ear plugs!…. I’m looking for a new vet.
Elliott is very thin, almost too thin. So I’m hoping this new way of eating will put a pound or two on him while it takes a few pounds off Maxie.
Thank you so much for all your research and what you have accomplished!

    1. Hi Barb,
So happy that you started on the book. What’s really amazing is that pets that need to lose weight do, and the pets that need to put on a few pounds also do that gracefully. I think the key to the great diet is that it helps the body to find the right metabolism. Great health is easy to “spot” and I know you’ll be singing the praises of the book in no time. Thanks for your kind words. Your kids are lucky to have you!

  3. Love, love, love the picture! My 2 Yorkies and 2 cats are all around me when it’s time to eat, but after reading just a bit from your website, I don’t think I’m feeding them really healthy food. I would like to think I am because I love them like children (they are my only children!) but I don’t think the ingredients would come close to yours! I just stumbled accross your website by accident (a good accident!) and can’t wait to read and find out more!

    1. Hi Kathy,
Your Yorkies and your cats are very lucky to have you caring so much about them. The recipes for making food and supplements are all in my book in an easy to follow format. I’m guessing that it won’t take long to make them the healthiest pets in the world. Keep in touch with me and let me know how you’re all doing!

  4. I love this book. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I recently gave them Halo also and my one dog, who absolutely would never eat dry(well because I cooked for her from the get go) loves it. They come running for the recipes in this book and they look great.

    1. Hi Mary,
So happy you love the book and your dogs are loving life because of the great food and treats you make for them. As you know, I don’t recommend dry food at all. It just dries out the coat, skin and organs. Best if you do all homemade. They sure are lucky. How about a great photo of your healthy pups?

  5. Hi Andi,
I had been having a very difficult time finding a food that my little dog will eat. He just turned 9 years old and the vet told me to feed him food designed for older dogs …but he just picks at it..I’ve tried a few supposedly “healthy brands” but he turns his nose up at all of them ….…He’s was losing weight and I was beginning to really worry about him ……. I was talking to a friend and she told me about your book and the healthy pet diet,,,,,,I really enjoyed reading it ,very informative… I started preparing food for Rascal and..HE LOVES IT……he can’t wait for me to put his bowl down….…..he’s acting like a puppy and gets so excited when it’s meal time……..He no longer picks….he licks his bowl clean……He’s one happy and healthy boy again … thanks Andi
Are you going to be making your food again or can you recommend a food like yours that I can get at a store…… I’m not always into cooking and it would be so much easier if I could just buy it somewhere.

    1. Hi Richard,
How very lucky your sweet pup is, and thanks for your kind words! There’s nothing healthier in the world for Rascal than the food you prepare yourself. It’s such a great feeling when you see how happy and healthy they become and the diference that wholesome food really makes. I hope you signed up for my newsletter…I’ll be making some exciting announcements in the coming months, and I wouldn’t want you or Rascal to miss out on any of it. I understand what a labor of love it is to make the food.. For the moment, it’s your best bet – but I hope to be giving you some great alternatives soon:)
Wishing you both great health always!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, we sure do love our pets. I’m especially fond of Aussies myself:)
Keep coming back and we’ll have more good stuff for your sweet ones! xox

  6. I have read your book and have happily changed both my 3 year old lab and my 5 year old house tabby into converts.
I have about 8 lbs of venison I would like to use. Can I just substitute it for the other meats in any recipe?

    1. Hi Jeanette,
Glad your sweet ones are doing well on the program. Yes, you can try venison. Let us all know how they like it. I’m sure your lab will take to it happily… not so sure about the kitty. But do keep us all posted. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Hi Andi,

Thanks so much for the great book! We’ve started our 6 month puppy on the diet and she LOVES it…runs to the rug after eating to rub her mouth on it every time! We’re also starting our overweight diabetic cat on homemade food after consulting our vet. Do you think your diet will be good for diabetic cats as well? And are the portion sizes the same as with healthy cats? Or is there anything in it that he won’t be able to eat? Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Parm,
Glad the puppy is loving the food. You’ll love how healthy she stays her whole life! The cat food is PERFECT FOR A DIABETIC CAT. No grains and there have been so many pets that were diabetic, who are now insulin free because their owners took the time to make their food with wisdom. Please keep up the great work and let us know how things turn around. Please do keep monitoring the blood sugar levels with your vet. This will give you the readings that you are on the right track and make adjustments with the meds as appropriate. Glad your vet is open to the change in diet. xox

  8. I love the book. We just adopted and 8 yr old black male Standard Poodle. Our vet said he could use a few pounds on his tall frame. At the rate he is eating homemade Spot’s Stew, it won’t be long!
Thank you so much for your book. I wish I had known about it a couple of years ago. Our 12 yr old standard poodle girl went to her “ancestral home” in September. I believe she would have lived a longer, healthier life if we had known about Spot’s Stew.

    1. Sweet Regina,
Never blame yourself for what you didn’t know. You are wiser now. (We all hopefully are:) I know how much your girl was loved and she was so lucky to have you. xox Andi

  9. I can’t wait to start feeding my doggies and cat your recipes!
I read so many sites that say…you must add vitamins to pets cooked meals.
Do I really need to? And what kinds?

  10. Andi,

I’m SUPER excited about the new products and will be purchasing some ASAP! I’ve had and read the book, even recommended it to several people. I’ve now got a challenge to help an overweight cat that constantly throws up, no matter what (dry) food my friend feeds them. I just KNOW that with your products and guidance we can solve these problems! Thank you so much for dedicating your life to our “fur babies” it has definitely paid of for mine!

    1. Hi Christie, I’m SO GLAD that you’ve been getting great results with the recipes. I believe that there’s nothing about the body that cannot be improved when we give it the right nutritional support. Make sure your friend either makes the oils for the cat that throws up. (or buys my NEW Best In Coat:). Get them off the dry food and watch the magic happen. You’re an angel for helping your friend’s pets to feel better. Keep up all the great work! xox Andi

  11. Can Rupert come over the next time Voyko cooks? He loves to “hang out” while I make his stew and he barks the whole time waiting for me to drop things!!!

    1. Deb.. you are adorable.. Of course – we would LOVE to have Rupert come over! Holiday would adore the company and so would Voyko! xox

  12. Hi Andi,

My precious schnauzer mix “Lexi” was diagnosed recently with cancer. Multiple masses in her thoracic cavity. She was having trouble breathing so I brought her to the vet again. Third time in 3 months. Each time they were treating her symptoms. finally on x-ray they found her cancer??? Or so they think. Her chest was drained one cup of bloody fluid(a-lot for 9 lb doggy). Anyway they don’t think she has long to live. I have another dog who is 5 years old and a 19 year old cat. I made your stew and the cat “Cloudy-bear” came running. She is usually picky. My dogs took a little longer. Had to mix it with their old food now one week later they love the stew. Lexi looks great. She runs outside and barks joyfully when her daddy comes home. We are so grateful. We don’t know if she is healing or what but we hope she continues to improve. She is only ten years old. Sorry this is so long. I am reading your book and am loving it. I am telling all my friends who have dogs too. I only wish I knew sooner. Our vets should be more aware of the lack of regulation in the dog food industry and advise us. Thank you for the great recipes.

    1. Dear Melanie… What more can I say than how truly HAPPY I am for you and your family! You’re a great Mom and yes, you are right that everyone should know that the pet food industry is hurting the ones we love and how beneficial it is to take the food into your own hands and make it yourself! Perhaps you can post your story on Amazon about the book and how it’s worked so well for you. Others will read your comments there and I’m sure you’ll be helping so many more pets to regain their health! You are an angel.. Keep up all the great work! Hugs to your babies! xoxo

  13. Hi, Thank you for wanting to speak with me through other venues. I am really not posting much of anything new these days. If you have specific questions that you’d like to speak with me about, feel free to contact me at andi@thewholepetdiet.com. I am always there for those who need me. xox
